Beautiful Rainy Day Wedding in Buford, GA | Alena+Rett
Well, it finally happened… we photographed a wedding where it poured rain all day and all night – and it was still AMAZING!!! You see, the world’s sweetest couple knew that no matter what, at the end of the night they would be married to the one that God created for them and that was all that mattered!
This is the church our bride, Alena grew up in – it’s well over 100 years old! Everyone here has known her since her parents first brought her home from Russia and have watched her and Everett grow to be the amazing couple they are today.
As Alena slipped into her gorgeous silk wedding dress you could feel the excitement in the room. She anticipated seeing the reaction on her groom’s face when he saw her as the beautiful bride she was.
He’s calm, he’s quiet, he’s ready for the big day! Rett is a gentle soul who though he seemed calm on the outside, you could see the anticipation in his eyes. He was ready to finally be married to his best friend.
Our favorite part of the day is when we get to capture the moment the bride and groom first set eyes on each other. Every single couple is unique, but the emotion is always the same… Love, excitement, and of course, joy!
This lovely wedding party was a mixture of long-time friends and of course, family and they were the best! It has to be said that, I often tell my brides that anything can happen on a wedding day – well this day proved that. The moment Rick and I arrived for the day, the bride got a phone call and the countenance of the room changed. One of the groomsmen hydroplaned and likely totaled his car and was headed to the ER. The first thing we did was pray for him, together. “God, protect him and let his injuries be minor.” …
Shortly after finishing bride and groom portraits we received word that Jake (groomsmen in the ER) was on his way! Everyone was relieved he was ok! “Thank you, Lord!” It never ceases to amaze me that though things in life don’t always go as planned, God shows up in the details!
With all of their family and friends witnessing the union, Alena and Rett said their vows, lit a ceremony candle, exchanged the rings, and shared the official kiss. It was a dreamy day that was several years and many prayers in the making.
Time for the celebration! As the sun set, we all made a mad dash in the rain over to the Bradford House and Gardens where there was the cutest covered deck decorated for the reception. The dance floor stayed packed thanks to DJ Love and a crowd who knows how to have a good time!
Hey, the rain didn’t stop us from making sure we got a killer bubble exit photo! When it was time to say goodnight to all their loved ones, everyone lined up to cheer them on as they ran away into the rest of their lives together! It was an epic party and the perfect celebration for one of the sweetest couples we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know. Alena & Rett, thank you for trusting us with your big day! Praying God continues to bless you, cover you both in his protection, and take you two to heights you’ve never imagined!
