Canon 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Macro for Wedding Photography

A large portion of wedding photography is in the detail shots! Our brides and grooms spend countless hours planning every little detail- picking out the perfect flowers for their bouquet, selecting the earrings that compliment their wedding rings, choosing a bridal gown with gorgeous embellishments, the shoes that she’ll walk down the aisle to her groom in, and right down to to seating place cards for the guests… these are all gorgeous elements that we capture to tell their love story and document it in time for them forever. There are many lenses that you could use to capture each of these details but if you’re ready to take your clients galleries to the next level, its time to look at Macro Photography. If you’re reading this and you’re not a photographer, Macro Photography is the art of making tiny items look larger-than-life by using quality lenses that are specifically designed for this.

Canon L Series Lenses are our Go-To Lenses for our Wedding Photography Business

It is no secret that we are HUGE FANS of Canon L Series Lenses for our Wedding Photography Business!  Someone once told us that investing in good quality glass will yield better results than having the top of the line camera body.  I would repeat that to anyone who asks! We have both Canon 6D and 5D Mark III camera bodies and you can’t tell the difference between which images were taken with which body. Which is why when it came to picking a quality Macro lens for those dreamy ring shots you see in our feed, the Canon 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM was the perfect choice.

The Canon 100mm IS Macro has a killer built in Image Stabilization system which makes it easier to nail a tack sharp image of the engagement ring and it’s super quiet and smooth while doing it!  There are other more cost-effective lenses on the market but we use this one because of its sharpness and our ability to auto-focus while hand holding our macro photos; that’s right, no tri-pod needed!  This lens is versatile on a wedding day, also; you can use it on more than just the rings! We use it for dress embellishments, shoes, centerpieces, silverware, name cards, tiny details, and even Portraits!  The Canon 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Macro is well worth the investment!

I’d love to hear what you use your Macro Lens for?
