The Hotel at Avalon Wedding Pictures | Shelby & Judson’s Summer Wedding in Alpharetta
It seems like just last weekend we were meeting our bride for the first time and talking about her grand vision for her luxury Hotel at Avalon Wedding! Now, Shelby and her amazing new husband, Judson are officially married and we couldn’t have been more blessed to be the ones to witness and capture it all through photographs!

Shelby & Judson’s Engagement Session
Shelby and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready in a gorgeous suite overlooking the Avalon. There was no short supply of laughter among this group of joyful ladies! After being pampered by the lovely ladies of Formal Faces, it was finally time to slip our bride into her bridal gown! Shelby and her mom obviously have a very tight relationship and you could just tell how special it was for her to be the one getting her little girl ready for her big day!
Right after getting the ladies all dolled up, we headed outside to get a few group images of these beauties in before the rain that was moving in. I kept saying it wouldn’t rain… this has been my wedding mantra for the year! This was the first day this year it actually did; but, as I always tell my brides – TRUST ME! If there’s rain on the radar, we may move much faster or wait a few minutes while it breezes over. There’s a big difference in the odds of it raining during some portion of the day and all day long. Thankfully, when we plan we timeline I always put “cushion time” in for all the things that can (and usually do) happen. Hey, you know what they say about rain on a wedding day – right?! It’s GOOD LUCK! 🙂
Aren’t these flowing dusty blueish gray bridesmaids dresses just dreamy?!! They match perfectly with the lush pink and white bouquets designed by the talented Maxine Mecca over at Edge Design!
When the girls are getting dressed is when my amazing husbeast, Rick, heads on over to the guy’s suite to hang out with them. I’m pretty convinced we have more fun in the ladies suite, but Rick was definitely raving at how cool this group of guys is! After Judson’s dad, Judson, and his brother, Brooks, helped him put on the final touches to his groom’s navy suit – they all headed outside for their time in front of the lens.
It was still raining so we utilized this covered area in between stores. The guys were getting all of the attention from the shoppers with their compliments and even being snapchatted by them!
Ahhhhhhh… you know this is my FAVORITE part of the day! The bride and groom portraits – especially when they have a first look! I told Shelby to TRUST ME on the timing; we waited for the first look to be after the groomsmen because we saw the rain was moving away on the radar. When I had met her just days before to location scout, she told me she was dreaming of her portraits outside on the lawn here. Just as soon as we were ready to set Judson up, the rain dried up and the clouds parted… What a blessing! Sure, we could’ve taken these anywhere, even inside, but when a bride has a vision we always hope and pray it comes to fruition! Thank you, Lord!
How sweet are these two? This moment was 7 years in the making! Shelby and Judson know how to have fun together, to laugh together, and to embrace life together. Through all of their years, I pray they never forget the joy of this moment!
What a DREAM ceremony this was! I was in flower heaven with all of the pink roses, hydrangeas, and greenery galore! It takes an amazing team to put together and coordinate a grand event and that is definitely courtesy of Irene Tyndale and her team; these guys are top of the league! Then steps in Edge Design Group who sure knows how to bring a bride’s luxury vision to life!
Shelby and Judd shared their vows before their dearest friends and family, exchanged the rings, braided a 3 strand cord, and finally, the kiss! They did it! Now, #LetsGetReadyToRussell…
The newlyweds chose to have ALL of their pictures taken before the ceremony, even the family portraits – this meant they were able to enjoy every moment of their cocktail hour with their guests. How fun is that?! After cocktail hour, guests were ushered into the gorgeous all-white ballroom adorned with tall, breathtaking floral centerpieces, candles galore, and a giant dance floor waiting for the party to get started.
These cakes, you guys!!! This is an exact replica of Judd’s Yeti Cooler complete with Shelby’s sorority sticker and their Alabama sticker… this thing was the talk of the reception! Fabulous cakes by the ever so talented Cake Envy!
Mr. & Mrs. Russell made their grand entrance being cheered on by their wedding party, shared in the first dance, and not long after the dance floor became the place to be…
Shelby and Judson, thank you for allowing us the pleasure of celebrating alongside of you for the first day of the rest of your lives together! You two were a dream to work with and your families are both so amazing! Praying God blesses you both beyond your wildest imaginations and that your marriage is filled with an abundance of joy all the days of your lives, and that you always find a way to make each other laugh and smile the way you did on this day. We LOVE ya’ll!
