Melinda, Zoey, Jasmin + Danielle: Emory University Senior Photographer
As an Emory University senior photographer, I was thrilled when Melinda, Jasmine, Zoey, Danielle reached out to me to take their group senior session at Emory University! Group senior sessions are always so much fun and are so different than individual senior sessions. I had a blast getting to hang out with them and photograph them on Emory University’s campus!
Emory University was founded in 1836 as Emory College by the Methodist Episcopal Church. It was named in honor of the Methodist bishop John Emory, and is one of the oldest private institutions in Georgia! It’s an absolutely beautiful campus with a ton of trees and gorgeous marble buildings. Being able to be an Emory University Senior Photographer is always so much fun! It’s the perfect place for graduate photos – especially if you want photos with your friends!
Melinda, Jasmin, Zoey & Danielle started as freshman dorm-mates when they began their college classes. Over all four years, they remained friends and now that they’re all graduating, they wanted to take their college graduate photos together!
We started the session at the gate. And while we were waiting for everyone to arrive, we started chatting, and just getting to know one another. Once everyone was there, we started taking pictures.
The girls started the session in coordinating white dresses and it was perfect for photos! When you’re taking group photos, it’s important that there is a cohesive look among the group without it matching identically. And these girls pulled it off so well! Each of them wore a white dress that suited their unique personality so we were able to get great group photos AND great individual photos for everyone!
We were having a great time at the beginning of the session but almost immediately started to rain! We all had to run (and fast!) to avoid getting drenched. The closest building we could use for cover was the chapel, which is like a good football field away! It was a downpour. We waited about thirty minutes, comfy and dry, but it was still pouring rain and thundering and lightning! So we spent the time just chatting and laughing at the circumstances.
And finally, the rain stopped enough for me to continue my work as an Emory University Senior Photographer! Everyone was still so optimistic about this session, that it made us all excited to get back to the photos despite the initial hiccups we ran into!
Once they had plenty of photos of each of them and the whole group in their white dresses – we added the cap & gowns! I always suggest that my college graduate clients bring their cap & gowns to showcase during their session! It’s especially true for a group senior session! Having everyone in their cap & gown creates a lot of diversity in their final photos without having to take the time to do a full outfit change.
And let me tell you, Melinda, Jasmine, Zoey, Danielle absolutely rocked their cap & gown look!! During the shoot, they were all so talkative, and you could really tell that they were all true friends and will remain so!
In all actuality, they almost talked to each other more than me! But, that’s okay because I was able to get some awesome candid shots! By the end of the session, the girls had all changed into matching Emory University t-shirts and it made for the perfect ending to our session! Having at least a few shots in your university t-shirt with your friends during a group senior session will turn into one of your favorite pictures to have in years to come when you look back on what started it all!
Now that they’re graduating, several of them are taking jobs all over the states while one is traveling to another country for her future! Throughout this session, it was so touching to witness how much these 4 girls meant to each other and I’m sure they’ll remain forever friends no matter where life takes them!
Melinda, Jasmine, Zoey, Danielle, I’m so thankful that you trusted me as your Emory University Senior Photographer and it was so much fun to work with each of you. I pray that God will bless you wherever your future road will take you and grant you all amazing careers and futures!
Congratulations and thank you, again! Xo, Jess
